SzaFARi 2026 Conference
On May 26, 2026, the eighth Symposium on Fuzzy-Based Engineering Systems (SzaFARi) was held, jointly organized by the Donát Bánki Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering of Óbuda University and the Hungarian Fuzzy Association, which operates as a section of the John von Neumann Computer Society. The aim of the event was to support the scientific activities of students and early-career researchers, provide a platform for presenting research results, and strengthen both national and international professional relationships. The symposium was academically supported by the Mechatronics Subcommittee of the Scientific Committee on Machine Structures within the Engineering Sciences Section of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
This year’s plenary lecture was delivered by Dr. Ákos Ódry, Associate Professor at the University of Szeged and Vice President of the Hungarian Fuzzy Association, under the title “Disturbance-Aware Sensor Fusion for Mobile Robots.” The presentation introduced recent research findings related to sensor fusion solutions for mobile robots and their practical applications in an accessible and engaging manner.
A total of 26 presentations were delivered in Hungarian and English during the conference. The presented research covered a wide range of topics, including fuzzy inference systems, computational intelligence, and various engineering applications of artificial intelligence.
The international character of the event was further strengthened by the participation of representatives from the University of Donja Gorica (Montenegro), the Subotica Tech – College of Applied Sciences, and Sana’a University (Yemen), alongside students and faculty members of Óbuda University. The presence of these partner institutions contributed to the exchange of scientific experiences and the exploration of new opportunities for research collaboration.
The best presenters of each section were awarded certificates of recognition. The recipients were:
- Ákos Zsámbok: Development of an Alternative Fuzzy-Based Student Evaluation System (Óbuda University)
- Dávid Czibula: Application of Fuzzy Logic in Role-Playing Games (Óbuda University)
- Emili Čović: Investigation of Factors Affecting Learning Outcomes and Prediction of Academic Performance Using Classification Methods (Subotica Tech – College of Applied Sciences)
The SzaFARi 2026 conference once again demonstrated the commitment of Óbuda University and the Bánki Faculty to fostering the next generation of researchers, strengthening international relations, and supporting young scientists. We are confident that the collaborations established with the University of Donja Gorica and Subotica Tech will continue to grow and lead to new joint research and educational opportunities in the future.
The conference-related publications will be published in the Bánki Proceedings and in the Gradus scientific journal.
